Spring cleaning

Today was a typical cloudy spring day in Seattle. Nice temp, but a little overcast most of the day. It didn't rain until late afternoon, though. We all worked pretty hard to get the back yard and porch cleaned up so we can start using it for summer activities, bbq's, etc. It's usually beautiful here in the spring/summer months. And no bugs! including no mosquitos! Perfect for spending the evening outside. Izzy and Xander had fun "helping out" We got our own backyard concert at one point.

Swimming

So, Izzy has been taking swimming lessons. She's still a little scarred to put her face all the way in. But has really loves swimming and can really get around on a "noodle". Here's a pic.

Work and New job

So, I went to work today... long 12 hour shift. I'm not sure why, but I'm orienting a new RN. My last day is Tuesday! I have only 3 more shifts! I'm going to be switching from inpatient orthopedic unit to a primary care clinic. This means that I won't be working late evenings, weekends or holidays! And it's only 4 days a week. I start on May 5th.

BTW, if any of you happen to be in the hospital or have family there, nurses love chocolate or any other kind of sweet. I don't know if it's a change in the way things are or just the culture here in the northwest, but I've noticed that there's a lot less food brought in by family members lately. Also, May 5 is national nurses week. I was thinking about this at work today because someone brought us SEE's chocolates (which by the way are from SF and happen to be the best, IMO).

Preschool playdate

So on Wednesdays we stay over at preschool and have lunch and a playdate. It's also a time for the parents to get together and chat, network, etc. Xander has really enjoyed this time because it's one of the few times he gets to "go to preschool". I think he's really going to love being in daycare full time in the fall. He's the one in overalls looking at the cute girl. :)

Just a normal morning

Xander really loves waking his big sister up in the morning. Today was a preschool day for Izzy and I got to take Xander to the Y with me. We're having a little quiet time now just before she gets home. (Shhhh. Xander just went down for a nap) I'm just about the luckiest mom. At nap time all I have to do is give him his pacifer and blanket, kiss him and shut the door. And he's out for almost 2 hours without a single complaint. Just about the same at bedtime, too.

April 21, 2003: New Ski Equipment

This is my first post. I plan on trying to write at least a few times a week. I haven't had much time keeping up with friends and family. I'm hoping that this will help.

Today we went to REI and bought barely used downhill ski equipment for myself and C. I'm really excited because this will "hopefully" get us out on the slopes more. Now that I'm going to have weekends free! And it's really set in that we live somewhere that only an hour away from skiing.
